Computer Maintenance and Assembling Unit (CMAU) – RUSL

Overview

The Computer Maintenance and Assembling Unit (CMAU) at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) was established on October 4, 2010, with the aim of assembling and repairing computers and related equipment owned by the university. Dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure, CMAU provides comprehensive maintenance and repair services to support both academic and administrative functions. Staffed by a team of skilled Technical Officers, the unit plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the university’s IT systems, ensuring that all computing devices function optimally to meet institutional needs.

Objectives & Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair desktops, laptops, UPS systems, and other university IT equipment.
  • Ensure that IT resources remain operational to support academic and administrative activities.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues and provide solutions.
  • Provide printer installation and networking services for university departments.
  • Offer hands-on training programs in computer maintenance and assembling.
Workshop & Resources

CMAU is equipped with:

A fully functional repair and diagnostic workshop for hardware and software troubleshooting.
Essential tools for component repairs and part replacements.
Skilled Technical Officers specializing in IT maintenance and support.

A structured 6-month training program for hands-on computer maintenance experience. allowing participants to gain practical experience and develop valuable technical skills.

Our Services
  1. Maintenance Requests

The following items are handled as Maintenance Requests:

  • System Units (Desktops): We handle diagnostics, part replacements, System Installing, Software Installing, software troubleshooting, and system optimizations to ensure the reliability and performance of desktop computers.
  • Laptops: System Installing, Software Installing, software troubleshooting, for laptops with complex issues like motherboard failures, CMAU identifies the fault and returns the laptop to the department, indicating that it needs to be sent to a specialized company for further repair.
  • UPS Systems: Battery replacements and ensuring uninterrupted power supply for critical equipment (under 2KVA UPS).

  1. Service Requests

The following items are handled as Service Requests:
Printer Installation: Installation and setup of printers across the university.
Printer Networking/Sharing: Configuring printers to allow sharing across multiple computers.
