On October 3, 2023, the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (RUSL) celebrated a significant leap forward in its digital journey with the launch of six faculty websites and a new library website. Organized by the Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) in the main auditorium, this event marked an iconic moment in enhancing the university’s digital presence.
Chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor G.A.S. Ginigaddara and with the Deans of the six faculties and the acting librarian in attendance, the event highlighted the collective endeavor that fueled this project. The newly launched websites, crafted to be both engaging and navigable, seek to greatly improve the academic landscape by offering readily available resources and information.
The university web development committee coordinators designed and developed the new appearance of the websites. The development team was represented by Mr. Wiraj Wichramarachchi from the Faculty of Technology, Mr. Amith Bandara from the Faculty of Management Studies, Mrs. Banu Nissanka from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mrs. Deshani Somarathna from the Faculty of Agriculture, Mrs. Achini Irugalbandara from the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, and Mrs. Malithi and Mr. Ahmed from the Library. The project was monitored by the Center for Information Technology Services under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor.
The launch event featured speeches, live demonstrations, and discussions on the impact of these digital platforms. Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sanjeewani Ginigaddara emphasized the importance of integrating technology in education, stating that these websites are not just tools but gateways to academic excellence and research innovation.
This initiative is a evidence to RUSL’s commitment to advancing its digital footprint and making educational resources more accessible. As we move forward, these websites will undoubtedly become integral to our university community’s academic pursuits.
